BUNCO

We have decided to start up a bunco group in our Sunday School class. I'm so excited. Our first night is at my house this Thursday.
I've been a little nervous because I haven't played in several years and I totally forgot how so I've been trying to remember and looking up the rules today. Hopefully I have it under control now or someone coming will remember. There are several versions out there.
Either way - it's a good excuse to get together as girls and eat and visit! We've had a lot of new couples join our class lately and this will be a great way to get to know each other.
DO you bunco???? And do you have THEME buncos? We are going to try and do that. This week is just the starter week so we are just having a normal party but I hope we can come up with fun themes for the future. What has been your favorite theme night if you had one?

I'm part of a Bunco group in my neighborhood. We meet on the 1st Thursday of every month. Being new to our neighborhood, it's been a great way to get out and meet my neighbors. I played in my old neighborhood as well and we did theme nights quite often. Pajama night was my favorite. Our host made us breakfast for dinner. It was delicious.

I played with a group of gals the last two years I was in Fayetteville. Let me just say...they were crazy, but oh so fun! I think every time was as memorable and fun as the time before. But, my favorite themed night was the 80's christmas party!!! SO MUCH FUN! The Mexican Fiesta night was fun so was the pj party.

Oh yeah, Bunco is my most favorite! I'm a part of a group in my neighborhood and it's been so fun to get to know neighbors that I might not have connected with any other way!

We don't have theme nights all the time, but every once in awhile someone hosts a fun one just to mix things up a bit. Pajama Night is always my favorite!

We used to have Bunco night at our old church. Once a month we would all get together and kind of have a potluck. It was soooo fun and a great way to get to know everyone. We did have theme nights from time to time and the best was 80's night. It was big bangs and stirrup pants galore! Such fun!

We started a Bunco group at my school about 5 years ago, and we've grown over the years. Now we have teachers from several schools and a few who are retired teachers. We have a different theme each month, usually following whatever holiday is that month. We know what the rules are, but we often "bend" them. In fact, some months we don't ever get around to playing, we just eat, drink, laugh, and draw numbers for the prizes! It's mostly just an excuse to get together and socialize!

I play the first Friday of every month (won a few days ago)! :) We have had all different themes as we hav played together for 4 years now. Sometimes the theme is based on the food (Mexican food, Italian, etc...)Other times it is based on the time of the year...if a holiday is near. This summer one of the girls in our group did a "hurricane theme." We played by candle light, had the weather channel on, etc... It was ADORABLE! :) Plus, people can wear a certain color, etc....

It is a ball! Have fun. :)

I just learned how to play Bunco this year. It's a great game for groups!! We didn't have any theme, but that sounds so fun :)

I joined a Bunco group last year and love it! You're right, it's a great excuse for the girls to get together. We have started having themed buncos, only a few though - 80's theme, black & white theme and I think there was a patriotic theme too.
Hope you have fun and be sure to let us know what themes you have!

I play as a sub in my neighborhood. Last time I played I won $100!! Do you play for money or prizes?

Oh, yeah! Love bunco. I love the theme nights. We just go with whatever season it is...like in February we have a Valentine's bunco where we all wear red and pink and get creative with the food according to the theme, too. Have fun!

I've been in a bunco group before. It's a fun time to be with friends. I think the most fun theme was pajama night-sounds like it's pretty common.

I've done bunco - so much fun! We had a pajama party night theme, too and it was my fave! Everyone wore their favorite jammies or sweats and cute little slippers!

ok, so I have been reading your blog for awhile and never really commented but I couldn't pass up this Bunco one.
I have played as a sub for my mom's group. Hers' started with her Sunday school group. I think they have been playing together for over 10 years. I don't think they ever did theme night though-may have to pass that along to her.

We don't have a bunco group but has seriously thought about starting one. Maybe once I am in my new house I could get serious about it!

Never have played Bunco, but I think it would be something I could really enjoy. An "excuse" to get together with friends and have some good food is all I need to know! I'm in!

We bunco each month...I love it! We recently had a couples bunko that got the husbands involved. That was my favorite. I also like the "create your own superhero" theme we did. Too cute!

I love BUNCO!!! But I haven't played in years! At our old church, our Sunday School played. We did themes a couple of times. The Mardi Gras one was a lot of fun!

I also love Bunco!! I've been in a bunco group for 5 years and we are still going strong!! It's so much fun to just get together each month. We do have themed buncos and it has been so much fun!! I think my favorite theme was Bunco for Bananas where my friend Amy had a banana theme. All of the food had bananas in it. The decorations were super cute too!!

I *heart* bunco! I look forward to my "girl" time on the 1st Tuesday of every month! I play in a group that consists of various aged women from church. If it wasn't for this bunco group most of us probably would not have know each other. This group has been a true blessing to me! Really the only time we do a themed night is at Christmas when we do an ornament exchange & a potluck. Typically the hostess provides the meal, so when Christmas comes it's nice to do something a little different.

I bunco once a month with a group of girls and we've just been doing it for a few months now, so it's still a little rocky each month, but we're getting the hang of it, haven't done theme bunco yet!

I used to play in a Bunco group, then when we moved to a different house I joined my neighbor's Pokeeno Group instead. We've actually just been meeting for dinner at a restaurant the last several monthly meetings, but it's still so fun and it's a neat group of girls--I love going! The last time I hosted, I did all salads. One girl did all appetizers one time. I usually try to decorate a little bit based on the season or a holiday in my host month, but nothing fancy. I'm sure you'll enjoy it and have lots of cute ideas!

I just started a Bunco group here last month (Candy's in our group!)...mostly it's ladies I know from church, scrapbooking, work, or from our neighborhood. We have such a great group of ladies and it's so fun getting together. We haven't thought about theme nights for this group, but when I was in a Bunco group on base a couple of years ago, we did theme nights. Pajama night, College Sports night, and the Christmas theme with an ornament exchange were my favorites.

I've been playing for 7 years. Not with the same group of girls, it just constantly changes due to people moving, dropping out, adding a girl here and there, etc. We have the BEST tim! We don't usually do theme nights, but one time we had PJ night. The girls came to my house in their lounge pants, T-shirts and houseshoes. I made a big breakfast: egg casserole, bacon, biscuits, gravy, hash browns, juice...YUM! I couldn't really figure out a good dessert for after breakfast so we did fruit, poundcake and chocolate fondue! It was a hit!

We play Bunco once a month and have never done a theme night but that sounds fun! We have 20 people signed up to play and then we sign up to share food duty. If you host it at your house then you only provide food that month and everyone else signs up for 2 times so there are 3 or 4 people providing food each month. Hope this helps and have fun!
