Hurricane Dolly

On Saturday when we were in Corpus Christi, we were driving to lunch and I was looking at all of these beautiful homes across the street from the water and it reminded me so much of how Mobile, AL looks (only I know how Mobile looks after Hurricane Katrina). And all I could think about was how horrible it would be if a hurricane came through and how I would never, ever want to live near water after seeing the devastation of Katrina.
My family all went on and on about how hurricanes NEVER hit Corpus and it would be so rare for a hurricane to come through but I just kept thinking about how the weather has been so bizarre lately that anything is possible.
And sure enough, just 2 days after leaving there - Hurricane Dolly is heading that way. Please pray for the people who live near the path of the storm. I'm thinking of all my new friends I made at my brother's wedding who live there.
I'm sure we are in for a rough hurricane season and I pray for all of those who live near any type of coast. It's when you see people go through these kind of things that makes me be so grateful for the home I do have to sleep in each night. We may have a cabinet door that has fallen off or a window that leaks or whatever other little issue that nearly every home has - but God has blessed us with a home and I can't help but thank Him every night before I go to bed for my home and for my health and for my job and for each blessing He has given me - especially this baby! How can I NOT be thankful?

What are you thankful for today?

I am right there with ya girl! I am so thankful that I live in the middle of the country...away from all water! :) However, we are in the middle of tornado alley, so...hmm. But, I am so thankful that my God has blessed me with a 652 sq ft apartment that has AIR CONDITIONING!!!! :)

I was just watching the news and saw that about Hurricane Dolly and I thought about how, thankfully, it didn't hit during your brother's wedding. I hope it doesn't cause any damage there!!

I am thankful for so many things. God has truly blessed me. He is so good!

We used to live there a month ago, so I'm praying for everyone I know that still lives there and for the town. Last year one was supposed to come by but bypassed us.

Well, like all of us...I'm thankful for so many things, but for right this second...I'm thankful for His presence and His love and His peace that almost flooded this anxious heart as I prepare for VBS next week.

Its all Him and I just thank Him with a most tender heart.

Hugs Kelly~

Kellly - as we celebrate my daughter's birthday, I am thankful for every single day we've had with her (and her sister). She was born eleven years ago yesterday and eleven years ago today they flew her to Arkansas Children's Hospital and at four days old she was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. We had no idea what her future would hold and could not have believed what a wonderful life we would all be blessed with even with (or maybe because of) the uphill battles. So, today I am thankful for: another year with my sweet girl, wonderful, supportive friends (hers and mine), knowledgeable, caring doctors, my loving husband who is the best dad, and both my children that bring me such joy. You may not have wanted a novel but you caught me during a very reflective week :).

We sure can take a lot for granted, its sad to admit that I know.
I've been thankful this week just to get away..there are so many that can't take time off and need it so. I hope you are having a good week..

My husband! I love him dearly! We've been on vacation together this week with his family and it is always fun to get away from the hussle and bussel of life to just enjoy each others company! Thanks for sharing. We were red flagged here in Gulf Shores today so, I know the weather is bad. I'll be praying for the area you mentioned.

I heard about the hurricane on the radio today and thought of ya'll and the wedding just taking place there.
Right now, I'm thankful that I get to stay home with my kids. I worked when Ethan was little and I feel like I missed so much. I LOVE the slow pace of not having to rush to work each morning and feel like it is such a blessing to just spend time with my kids all day long! :)

I'm thankful for air conditioning!

And my family.

And for the ability to stay home with my kids.

Derek had to work Katrina, lifting people out of their houses by helicopter to safety. It definitely puts a different perspective on things when you see something like that happen. I'll pray for your family and new friends.

I'm thankful for my sweet family, my home, Derek's job, getting to stay home with my kids, Evan's therapists, my friends (YOU), and our health. We have much to be thankful for!

Hi. I stumbled upon your blog fairly recently and think it's fun :)
Congrats on your pregnancy! What a huge blessing for you and your family. I love your name choices. My son's middle name is Hudson and until the birth we still went back and forth with that being his name. And Harper, well we almost named our daughter Harper. Something in me goes for the more old fashion name at the last minute. It's just me.
Another random thing...I read a post from a while back and I think you may work for the same company my dad does. Something you said about outside activities made me think it's the same one. Only he works in Amarillo. I could be way off, if I am, sorry. I don't know if you've ever mentioned your company's name on here so I didn't want to throw it out.

Enough randomness to a stranger for one night,
Ashley

Hi Kelly,
Your blog came recommended on my google reader. I met my husband on a blind date so I can testify as well that they do work! It looks like we have some things in common, I thought I was the only one who would say brown is one of their favorite colors! Anyway, it was nice to come across your blog and maybe we will get to talk again.

I'm thankful that God loves me with a steadfast love, my family, church, friends, and I can't leave out iced tea and chocolate!

Hey girl! What a wonderful reminder to be thankful for the basics that are so easy to take for granted like food and shelter! I will certainly be praying for all those in danger of being impacted by Hurricanes this season!!

With my hubby's business being back up power we kinda keep an eye to the weather all the time around here. So when I saw Dolly headin' to Texas and CC, I thought of your brother & his new wife. I hope they are not on the beach in TX for their honeymoon.

I am thankful for all blessings in my life.......God is certainly Great!

I am thankful for the family God has placed me in. I've been working at a camp this week for kids in the foster system and it's sad what some of those kids have come from. I feel literally SPOILED at how God has blessed me. Two loving parents, great job, my own house and good friends. I'm so unworthy, but am SO grateful to Him :)

I was working for Red Cross & 2-1-1 when Hurricane Katrina hit. We spoke to and saw so many people who were uprooted b/c of the hurricane. It is so sad! I am so happy that your brother's wedding went a okay and there were no weather issues!

I am thankful for my husband, our son, our families, our friends, our jobs, our health, and our freedom!

A thunderstorm woke me up the other night and I was overwhelmed at that moment with gratefulness. Grateful for a house, a bed and my family. I just lay in bed listening to the storm and thanking God for all His has given me!

I too am praying for those in the line of Hurricane Dolly. I got an email from a friend who has a mission team across the border from Brownsville in Matamoras and she was asking prayer for them.

I am thankful for my family. We are so blessed to not have much family drama and my sisters and I are all best of friends.

It's funny that you posted this because I am watching the news and they are showing the weather report from South Padre Island and it looks really bad.. We are going to get a lot of rain from that I think.. Hopefully Dolly goes away soon! I am also thankful for the house I have to sleep in and hope the weather doesn't harm it! Also praying for all these people that will be affected!! The wedding pics were really pretty! Have a great rest of the week!
